THE LOVE GAME
How Do We Reconnect When We Have Become Roommates?
Couples do not usually drift apart because something went wrong. They drift because nothing is scheduled, and everything else in the day is. The reconnection that works is small, mutual and daily: a two-minute appointment both people show up to, defended like any other commitment. Grand gestures are easier to plan and far worse at fixing this.
Roommate mode is a calendar problem first
Work is scheduled. School runs are scheduled. The relationship is whatever time is left, and there is never time left. Nothing has gone wrong emotionally yet, but if you leave it long enough it will, and then you are solving a much harder problem than a scheduling one.

Two minutes, both of you, same time
The size is the point. A weekly date night is a logistics project that gets cancelled. Two minutes before sleep requires no babysitter and no planning, and it happens roughly three hundred times a year instead of six. Volume beats production value here every time.
It has to be mutual or it becomes a project
The moment one person is running the reconnection and the other is being reconnected to, it is dead. Both people show up, both people do a small thing. That symmetry is what stops it turning into one person managing the other.
Keep it light and keep score
A little scoring, a little competition, a little stake. It sounds trivial and it is the reason people keep showing up. Serious relationship work has a terrible completion rate. If you want more of the talking part, real questions beyond small talk and date nights that do not feel forced are the natural next step.

365 nights, two players, one team. One page a night, two missions a day, loser owes breakfast.
How do you fix a marriage that feels like roommates?
Schedule something small and daily that both people participate in, and protect it the way you protect work commitments. Daily and tiny outperforms weekly and elaborate, because it actually happens.
How long does it take to reconnect with your spouse?
Most couples notice the room feels different within two or three weeks of consistent daily contact. The deeper change takes months, which is why the daily thing needs to be small enough to survive that long.
