LEVEL THE F*CK UP
How Do I Set Non-Negotiables for My Life Without Setting Myself Up to Fail?
Non-negotiables fail when they are declared on Day 1 by someone who has not yet kept a single promise to themselves. Earn them instead. Prove the habit for a few weeks, then promote it. Keep the total to three; four is a list, three is a code. Write them where you will read them daily. Level The F*ck Up deliberately locks its three non-negotiables until later in the year, unlocked when you are ready, because a non-negotiable declared too early is just a resolution wearing armor.
The Day 1 declaration problem
January is full of non-negotiables that were negotiated by February. The failure is timing: they were declared before any proof. A rule with no track record is a wish.

Earn, then promote
Run a habit for weeks. When it survives a bad week, promote it to non-negotiable. The promotion means something because it was earned, and earned rules hold under pressure in a way declared ones do not.
Three, written, visible
Three lines, first person, declarative, in your handwriting, somewhere you see them daily. Level The F*ck Up treats them as an unlock: a small ceremony, because ceremony makes rules stick.
They are the floor, not the ceiling
Non-negotiables define the worst-day version of you, the floor below which you do not go. That is why they must be few and provable. Related: the no-zero-day rule, which is the smallest possible floor.
Level The F*ck Up
365 day-numbered quests, six stats, twelve boss fights, one hand-drawn chart. Your year as the campaign it was meant to be.
How many non-negotiables should I have?
Three. Enough to define a life, few enough to keep on the worst day. Level The F*ck Up caps it there on purpose.
When should I set my non-negotiables?
After you have evidence you can keep them. In Level The F*ck Up they unlock partway through the year, once several levels are cleared. Declaring them on Day 1 is how they get broken by Day 9.
