How to Get Your Money Right in 30 Days: Write Your Money Rules
Part of the series Month Nine: 30 Days of Putting the Numbers on the Table
Every area of your life now runs on written standards except the one that touches every other area, and the book's Day 253 page says why that gap exists: nobody ever handed you the constitution, so you have been improvising for twenty years and calling the improvisation a personality trait. Money without rules obeys moods, and you retired mood-based living back in Month Four. Getting your money right in thirty days is not a budgeting system. It is five lines, written and signed, that remove the account from the daily negotiation.
Week one: the three numbers and the jobs
Calculate the true monthly numbers: what comes in, what goes out, what is left over. Not the version you tell yourself; the one from the statements, which most people have not read as a set in years. Then give every unit a job before the month starts, needs first, debt second, future you third, and only then the rest, because unemployed money always finds something to do, usually the third streaming service. This is the week the account stops being a mystery, and the feeling most people report is not shame but relief: a number, however bad, can be worked on. A fog cannot.

Week two: the leaks, the debt, and the first transfer
Find the leaks and plug them the same day: the subscriptions nobody uses, the fees, the daily small thing that is a large annual thing. List every debt with its rate and punch the bully first, the smallest or the most expensive, with more than the minimum, because minimums are lunch-moneying your way through the year. And flip the line: set up the automatic transfer that pays you first, before the month can spend it, because the current system pays everybody before you and future you gets what survives, which is nothing, which is why they are still waiting.
Weeks three and four: the rules, and the second stream
Write the Money Rules, five lines maximum, and sign them. Know the three numbers monthly. Every euro a job. No new debt. Pay yourself first, automatically. Give some on purpose. Then turn to the earning side: your hour has a price, stop discounting it; negotiate everything, once; sell something, today, at any size, to prove the muscle exists; and start income number two, embarrassingly small, on an ordinary day, because every large second income you have ever admired started exactly that way. The Wealth Oath on Day 272 makes all of it permanent.
Where this sits
Day 253 of Month Nine, Money and Work, the document the first half of the month builds to. The three numbers is week one in detail; punching the debt is week two; income number two is week four; the Money rubric in the slow book scores the result, and the rubric's Steady band, six months of margin, no expensive debt, giving however small, is roughly what thirty honest days produce a path to. Five lines, signed, in a certain book that finally hands you the constitution.
